The WRC provides educational workshops at no cost to registered student organizations, residence halls, sororities/fraternities, campus units, academic departments, and community organizations. If your group or organization is interested in hosting a program, we can tailor one to your needs.

Awareness-Raising Workshops

Cute or Creepy? Media’s Normalization of Stalking  

This interactive workshop is designed to explore the messages we've received about stalking behaviors from popular movies and TV shows and examine how these behaviors have contributed to the normalization of stalking behaviors in our culture. Building our critical media literacy skills will help us challenge harmful narratives and promote violence prevention within our communities.

Know the Signs: Increasing Stalking Awareness

This introductory workshop is adapted from a national curriculum for the UIUC community and is intended to provide a basic overview of stalking, focusing on exploring stalking behaviors, examining the contextual nature of this form of violence, and providing strategies for participants to get involved in building awareness and supporting survivors.

Countering Imposter Syndrome

"Imposter Syndrome" is often used to describe internal experiences of intellectual phoniness that appears to be particularly prevalent and intense among a select sample of high achieving women. This interactive workshop will explore the common ways imposter syndrome shows up and ways to combat it in our lives.

Supporting Survivors through STRIVE

A comprehensive presentation that provides basic techniques for anyone who may encounter survivors of sexual assault. Supporting survivors can seem daunting but we utilize the acronym STRIVE as an easy way to help attendees remember the best ways to support.

Member Accountability for Student Orgs

This presentation is tailored to help members of student organizations create a culture of respect, explore how to create trauma-informed, equitable processes within your org, and proactively address instances of sexual harm within their organization. Participants will leave this workshop with tangible processes and policies tailored to their specific organization which they can implement to prevent and respond to instances of harm.

ICARE Bystander Intervention

ICARE is a peer-led bystander intervention workshop offered to established groups and organizations on campus. In this highly interactive workshop, students dialogue with peers in their organization about consent and sexually disrespectful behavior, understand what helps people intervene in sexually disrespectful situations, set a group norm in which sexually disrespectful behavior is recognized as a problem and active bystander behavior is promoted, and learn a variety of intervention skills. The workshop is also highly customizable and is built specifically for group members to examine their values and how they can work together to end sexual violence.

Workshops for Faculty & Staff

STRIVE for Survivor Success and Belonging

Student experiences with sexual misconduct directly impact admissions, retention and student learning and success. This workshop provides an overview of advocacy services and the role of confidential advisors in supporting survivors. We also highlight systemic barriers to support seeking and current strategies in place, such as the Embedded Confidential Advisor model. This presentation will end with discussing continued gaps in advocacy and support services and identifying potential strategies to create a campuswide approach to collectively address sexual violence.
